Chapter One
Billions of years had passed since the fall of mankind into sin. Since then, the population of the two had multiplied tens of billions of times over and the world had developed and evolved into a world full of self-reliant beings that were godless. Sure, just over half the population believed in a ‘god’, but most were false deities and only a couple handfuls knew the true Father. The rest were deceived by other men’s trickery and illusions. Children were exposed to the magic and power of money; the poor ones wanting more, the rich ones spoiling themselves on man made pleasures. The parents of these children exposed them to sins such as greed and gluttony. It was no surprise as to why the world was full of obese, lazy, power hungry people.
January 1st, 1988
A disgusted grunt escaped the dark haired male as he walked the streets, invisible to the naked eye. Everywhere he looked; the humans were stuffing food into their fat faces or talking busily on the phone to co-workers, trying to plan new ways to trick people out of their money. This was not how Lucifer had pictured things would turn out after his falling out. Perhaps karma was a real thing? He got what he wanted but in return he got this. He expected a league of beings ready and willing to side with him when the war was at its highest peak. But no, instead he got a bunch of people who would believe in unicorns and six-armed men before they would even acknowledge his existence. This needed to change, and soon. He needed an army on his side. The prophesied date of the war’s end was coming soon.
This was exactly why he was here on earth. He needed to find a suitor to help him plunge the world into his complete control. Of course, he, himself, couldn’t do it himself. He was only allowed very few days every century to show himself to the humans. And he had saved these ones for the war. Besides, no one in this time would look at him as the friendly face to lead the world to light. His whole being was filled with the dark essence that repelled the independently innocent like two positive magnets repelled one another. So that was his mission and that was what he was going to accomplish. He took the whole day off of his rituals to find the one person who could do what he had hoped to undertake.
There was a man sitting at an outdoor table at a fancy cafĂ©. He was talking on the phone, eating his expensive lunch peacefully. A snobby look was plastered to his face and he gave off a ‘better-than-you’ sort of feeling. No. He wasn’t the one. Looking up the street, he spotted a woman. She was dressed in stiletto heels with a tight skirt and a corset top on. Fishnet stockings covered her well taken care of legs. Obviously she was good at persuading the men full of lust, tricking them out of their money. She wasn’t it either. A woman couldn’t possibly fulfill this job, no matter how persuasive she could be or how entrancing she was.
A sigh escaped his mouth this time. It would take him forever to find the right man for the job. There had to be at least 30 billion men on this planet. Not one of them would be good enough for the job. It was almost pointless trying to find someone with all the perfect qualities. It might even be easier to send one of his demons to do the job. But he couldn’t count on them to find someone perfect. The humans had it right when they said, “If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself”.
Now there was a curious idea; ‘do-it-yourself’. Yes. That is what he was going to do. Instead of finding someone with all the attributes he searched for, he was going to give someone all those attributes. It would have to be a child. No. A baby would be best. A baby could soak up all the things it needed to be like a sponge. Now where to find a baby? The best guest would be at the hospital. And so Lucifer headed to the Mercy General Hospital in downtown Sacramento, California. He got there within the time it takes to blink. Lucky for him, there was a woman giving birth to a baby boy. She named him Damien Archer Colton. He had dark hair and could have possibly been the cutest baby born all year. He would be perfect.
As soon as he was put into the nursery with all the other children, Satan made his appearance.
“Heh…So you will be my one chance at victory.” He said aloud to the infant with a voice that was as deep as it was beautiful. He picked the sleeping child up into his arms. “Such a tiny thing you are.”
A few moments were silent as Lucifer stared down at Damien, then he placed his hand on his forehead and spoke once again. “I suppose you’ll have to do.”
With a sudden flash of dark light, Damien was sleeping in his temporary bed again and Satan had gone. His work was done here. The boy now had all the right qualities to help him in the future. He had given him strong leadership, a friendly personality, the ability to make friends with no problem, a love for politics, a sense of responsibility, a devoted mindset, and, most importantly, the plan for his greatest deed; to rule all the nations. Within twenty-four years’ time, Damien would be at the top of the world and his destiny would be fulfilled. He was meant for so much greatness, evil as it was, and he didn’t even know it yet.
All that was left to do now, was sit and wait for the boy’s story to unfold.
